Welcome to LATAM Link!
It has been two years since we established the Australia Latam Emerging Leaders Dialogue. It’s a tough gig; not only is the Australia and Latin America relationship often outside the strategic focus of government, we have also been hit by a pandemic. We don’t need to repeat the consequences this has had on both of our regions.
Despite this, we have persevered. In 2020, we kicked off our El Emergente series which focused on stories, histories and ideas between Australia and Latin America. As diplomacy went onto Zoom, so did we. It opened up our eyes in terms of people and places we could access in the digital world.
We also grew our team. We welcomed Rosario (aka Rochi!) to lead our media and communications, Dom joined us to direct our content, and bilingual Australian Mia also joined as a contributor. We are always looking out for people with an interest in the region to build our capabilities. If you’re interested, flick us an email at hola@australialatam.com.
Now we are in January 2021 and have kicked off Latam Link. What we have noticed over the last two years is a small emergence of commentary on matters about the bilateral relationship. However, there does lack a place for dedicated Australia – Latin America content. So, here we are!
Throughout the year we will be posting new commentary on the region by our team and people who want to contribute. If you are interested, also send as an email with your pitch. We welcome contributions from students through to Professors and CEOs.
Thanks again to everyone for their support over the last couple of years as we grow this emerging ecosystem between our regions.
Until then, chau!
